Solenoid valve is an industrial equipment controlled by solenoid, and also an automatic basic element used to control fluid. It is an actuator, not limited to hydraulic and pneumatic, and is mainly used to adjust the direction, flow, speed and other parameters of media in the industrial control system. The following is a detailed introduction to solenoid valves:
working principle
The solenoid valve consists of two parts: the solenoid coil and the valve body. Its main working principle is to use the electromagnetic force generated by the solenoid coil to push the valve core to move and achieve fluid switching or direction change. Specifically, the solenoid valve has a sealed chamber with through holes at different positions, each connected to a different oil pipe. The middle of the chamber is a piston, and there are two electromagnets on both sides. When the magnet coil on which side is energized, the valve body will be attracted to which side. By controlling the movement of the valve body to open or close different oil discharge holes (the inlet hole is normally open), hydraulic oil will enter different oil discharge pipes, and then push the piston of the oil cylinder through the pressure of the oil. The piston drives the piston rod, which in turn drives the mechanical device. In this way, the mechanical motion is controlled by controlling the current on and off of the electromagnet.

Principle classification
Direct acting solenoid valve: When powered on, the solenoid coil generates electromagnetic force to lift the closing member from the valve seat and open the valve; When the power is cut off, the electromagnetic force disappears, and the spring presses the closing member against the valve seat, causing the valve to close. This type of valve can work normally under vacuum, negative pressure, and zero pressure, but the diameter generally does not exceed 25mm.
Stepwise direct acting solenoid valve: This is a principle that combines direct acting and pilot operated. When there is no pressure difference between the inlet and outlet, after being energized, the electromagnetic force directly lifts the pilot small valve and the main valve closing member upward in sequence, and the valve opens. When the inlet and outlet reach the starting pressure difference, after being energized, the electromagnetic force pilot small valve, the lower chamber pressure of the main valve rises, and the upper chamber pressure drops, thereby using the pressure difference to push the main valve upwards; When the power is cut off, the pilot valve uses spring force or medium pressure to push the closing member downwards, causing the valve to close. This type of valve can also operate under zero pressure difference, vacuum, and high pressure, but it has a high power and must be installed horizontally.
Pilot operated solenoid valve: When powered on, the electromagnetic force opens the pilot hole, causing the pressure in the upper chamber to rapidly decrease, creating a high and low pressure difference around the closing member. The fluid pressure pushes the closing member upward, and the valve opens; When the power is cut off, the spring force closes the pilot hole, and the inlet pressure quickly forms a lower and higher pressure difference around the closing valve through the bypass hole. The fluid pressure pushes the closing valve to move downward and close the valve. The upper limit of the fluid pressure range of this valve is relatively high, and it can be installed arbitrarily (customized), but it must meet the condition of fluid pressure difference.
Fluid parameters

Material: For corrosive fluids, corrosion-resistant solenoid valves and all stainless steel are recommended; Food grade stainless steel solenoid valves are recommended for consuming ultra clean fluids.
Temperature: For high-temperature fluids, electromagnetic valves made of heat-resistant electrical and sealing materials should be selected, and piston type structures should be chosen.
State: The fluid state can be gaseous, liquid, or mixed, especially when the diameter is greater than DN25, it must be distinguished.
Viscosity: Usually below 50cSt, it can be freely selected. If it exceeds this value, a high viscosity solenoid valve should be used.

Installation Instructions

The installation method of solenoid valve is as follows:

1.During installation, it should be noted that the arrow on the valve body should be consistent with the flow direction of the medium, and should not be installed in areas with direct dripping or splashing. The solenoid valve should be installed vertically upwards.

2.The solenoid valve should ensure normal operation within a fluctuation range of ± 10% (or 15%~10%) of the rated voltage of the power supply.

3.After the installation of the solenoid valve, there should be no reverse pressure difference in the pipeline, and it needs to be energized several times to reach the appropriate temperature before it can be officially put into use.

4.Before installing the solenoid valve, the pipeline should be cleaned and the incoming medium should be free of impurities. A filter should be installed in front of the valve.
